Day One, Day Two

Yesterday was the first day of my Body for Life Challenge and I had a great upper body workout and this morning's cardio went very well. I usually try to make it to the gym and start working out between 6:15 and 6:30 in the morning so that I can eat my meals at a regular schedule. It will be even better in a couple of weeks when all of the people who made New Year's resolutions to workout realize that 6:00 is way too early for their lifestyles and they decide to come later in the day...I think it's great that they want to work out and be healthier, but I just wish they would come after I leave. Yeah, that's bad, but I like the peace and quiet that working out in the morning provides; it's easier to focus on why I'm there.

I spent a few minutes this morning reevaluating my nutrition plan and finally reached a workable solution that cut out some calories and gave my wife much more room in the evening meal (#5 on the list below). She has been doing a very good job of preparing foods that fit within this plan, we still argue about sodium amounts, but other than that she is very flexible (and she is flexible with sodium too). Overall, this is a plan I can stick too and I like the results I saw during the last several months of following the plan.

The difference is that this time I am actually doing the challenge. I've discovered a much better way to use the stationary bike to handle my HIIT cardio needs and relearned the amazing benefits of doing dead lifts. I am going to re-enlist in the Army in the next few months and need to get my run time down. These tools and going through this workout will help me lose the weight and build the strength I need to accomplish my goals.
